Total Cosmetic Transformation With Veneers
Enjoy A Balanced, Natural, And Beautiful Smile
If you’re self-conscious about your smile due to stains, gaps in your smile, misshapen teeth, or any other flaw, porcelain veneers in San Francisco from the team at Mission Bay Dental may be right for you. Led by Dr. Nancy Ly and Dr. Jane Choi, our dentists use the latest technology, materials, and a facially-driven treatment approach to create balanced and beautiful smiles with porcelain veneers.
What Are Veneers, And How Do They Work?
A veneer is a thin, tooth-shaped “shell” that fits over a tooth and covers up the front surface. They can be made from many different materials, but porcelain veneers are the most common. Porcelain is very similar to natural tooth enamel in color, translucency, and strength, which makes it an ideal choice for veneers.
Veneers are meant to cover up a wide variety of cosmetic flaws in your smile. They can be used to treat minor chips, misshapen teeth, small teeth, uneven teeth, severe stains, gaps between teeth, and much more. Because they're so versatile, veneers are a great choice if you want an “all-in-one” cosmetic dentistry solution.
The Benefits Of Porcelain Veneers
Incredible results
With a set of porcelain veneers, you can completely transform your smile and boost your self-confidence. At Mission Bay Dental, we use a facially-driven treatment approach to ensure that your new smile fits in perfectly with your facial features. Not only will your new smile be totally flawless, but it will also accentuate and enhance your face and overall appearance!
Long lifespan
Porcelain veneers have a typical lifespan of 10-20 years before they require replacement. This makes them a fantastic long-term investment in your smile. This is especially true when you compare veneers to alternative treatments like dental bonding and teeth whitening, which have significantly shorter lifespans.
Completely stain-resistant
Unlike natural enamel, the porcelain materials used for veneers aren’t porous. This means they can’t be stained by wine, coffee, tea, berries, or anything else. No matter what you like to eat and drink, you can keep smiling brightly for years to come.
No special care needed
You can treat your veneers just like natural teeth. As long as you brush twice per day, floss once every day, and see your dentist at Mission Bay Dental for a checkup every six months, you’ll keep your new smile in great shape.
Understanding The Veneer Process
- Cosmetic consultation – First, you’ll meet with your dentist at Mission Bay Dental. They will perform an oral exam, examine your teeth, and discuss your smile goals with you. Together, you can determine if veneers fit into your lifestyle, schedule, and budget!
- Veneer preparation – Once you’re approved, you’ll come in for another visit. Your dentist will clean and numb your mouth, then gently remove some tooth material from each tooth that’s getting a veneer. This is done to make sure that your veneers fit into your smile perfectly.
- Designing your new smile – Next, your dentist will take digital impressions of your teeth with an iTero 3D scanner. Then, they will upload this information into a computer program and begin designing your veneers based on your input and your treatment plan. You’ll be sent home with a temporary set of veneers to protect your teeth.
- Crafting your veneers – Once your veneer designs are finished, your dentist will send them to our partner dental lab. Here, an experienced lab technician will carefully create your permanent set of veneers out of durable, tooth-colored porcelain. It usually takes 2-3 weeks for Mission Bay Dental to receive your final set of veneers.
- Final veneer placement – Once your veneers arrive at our office, you’ll come in for one last visit. Your dentist will remove your temporary veneers and clean up your teeth. Then, they will check the fit of each veneer and make any last-minute adjustments, if needed. Once everything looks perfect, your dentist will use powerful dental cement to permanently attach your veneers to your teeth. After one final polishing, you’ll be sent home to enjoy your gorgeous new smile!
